11 Dec The Results Are In!
- In the current Community Governance Review Stage 2 which had been running from the 1st September to the 31st October 2017 has just ended with a great result.
At 5pm on the 31st October the opportunity to express your view in the consultation closed. Within a few days we saw the results and it was brilliant. The breakdown of the four options are below:
Option 1 (No Chnage) – 364 (3.9%)
Option 2 (Town Council) – 8,631 (93.5%)
Option 3 (Area Committee) – 74 (0.8%)
Option 4 (Four Parishes) – 158 (1.7%)
Total – 9,227
The overwhelming majority of people who did respond voted for option 2 which is for a Town Council the only viable option for greater governance for Bexhill.
What is next for this campaign?
The date of the meeting for Full Council is the 18th December 2017 it will be taking place at the Town Hall with doors opening at 6:30pm.
Before 6:30pm on the 18th there will be a rally for democracy in Town Hall Square to demonstrate how much Bexhill people really do care about their town. This rally organised by D4B will be starting at 5:30pm which is an hour before the doors open for Full Council.
If you didn’t know already the only way to access the Council Chamber on the 18th will be by a ticketing system so there isn’t a huge rush before 6:30pm. The way you can get hold of a ticket is on Monday 11th December a week before the 18th. The Town Hall will allow on a first come first serve basis a maximum of 35 tickets to be given out to members of the public who collect them at 8:30am Monday morning. (11th December) All tickets now allocated.
But don’t worry if you don’t get hold of a ticket the whole Council Meeting is being live-streamed into St John’s Hall Victoria Road only 100m from the Town Hall.
Or if you decide or wish to stay at home then you are able to watch the Full Council Meeting live on Facebook.
